Title: Directions on Reviewing the Eligibility of Foreign Nationals to Apply for the Digital Nomad Visa Ch

Content: 1.    These Directions are prescribed to set criteria for the review of digital nomad visa eligibility pursuant to the Executive Yuan's initiative to attract digital nomad talent. 
2.    Foreign nationals eligible for visa-exempt entry who engage in remote work through digital means, not providing services to businesses or employers within Taiwan, and who meet specific criteria, may apply to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or an overseas mission thereof for a digital nomad visa that is valid for three months, allows multiple entry, permits a stay of up to three months, and bears no prohibition of extension or other limitations. If continuation of stay beyond the expiration of the visa is needed, the holder may, before the visa expires and without being required to leave the State, apply to the National Immigration Agency, Ministry of the Interior for an extension thereof, for a total stay of up to six months at a time.
3.    The “specific criteria” referred to in the preceding point shall mean meeting one of the following circumstances:
(1)    Proof of having obtained digital nomad visa issued by another country
(2)    For those 30 years of age and older: proof of earning an annual salary of at least US$40,000 or its equivalent in one of the last two years
(3)    For those between 20 and 29 years of age: proof of having earned an annual salary of at least US$20,000 or its equivalent in one of the last two years
4.    Applicants shall be required to submit supporting documents demonstrating their engagement in remote work through digital means and their meeting the specific criteria set forth in the preceding point (as detailed in the Appendix), along with a completed Republic of China visa application form, a foreign passport valid for at least six months, and other required documents to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or an overseas mission thereof.
      The Ministry of Foreign Affairs or its overseas mission shall refer the documentation on an applicant’s engagement in remote work through digital means and meeting the specific criteria as referred to in the preceding paragraph to the National Development Council for review and opinion.
      When necessary, the review referred to in the preceding paragraph may be conducted in consultation with relevant authorities.
